Abstract

One of the major decisions expected from an individual to make during adolescence is career decision. However, due to lack of orientation, exposure and proper information, majority of adolescent are making wrong and inappropriate career decision hence this study. The paper gave an historical background from traditional and educational perspective. Definition, objectives and goals of career education were vividly examined and explained. Curriculum contents and method of disseminating career education are given adequate explanation. The paper concludes and recommends that equipping adolescent with right knowledge to make appropriate and profitable career choice is not negotiable. The school should restructure their curriculum to be more enriched in disseminating career information. Likewise, the media both prints and electronics should intensify efforts by inculcating various dimension of career education into their programmes.
