Domestic violence has far-reaching consequences for individuals, communities, children, and society, with implications for children's and adolescents' socioeconomic, affective, and academic achievement. The current article contributes new and valuable information to the body of knowledge on children who are victims of domestic violence. This paper identifies different types of domestic violence, the effects on children and adolescents who are exposed to domestic violence, and effective strategies for teachers, school administrators, and social workers to help students from domestic violence-affected homes in Nigeria. The paper proposes that educational institutions should make trained social workers available to help school authorities identify and address the problems of students from domestic violence backgrounds in their academic aspirations.
