One of the problems attracting public outcry in Nigeria today is the academic performance of secondary school students which on the long run determines their academic achievements. This study examined the impact of study habits and emotional intelligence on academic performance of secondary school students. Six hypotheses guided this study. A descriptive research design of survey type was employed for this study. The population comprised all senior secondary school students in Akoko South-West, Ondo State, while the sample consisted of 200 students randomly selected from four secondary schools. Data collected were analyzed using inferential statistics and the hypotheses were tested using t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that study habits significantly influenced academic performance of secondary school students and that emotional intelligence significantly influenced academic performance of secondary school students. It was recommended that teachers and school counsellors should ensure that emotional intelligence of the students is enhanced through appropriate techniques.
