In Nigeria, problems associated with adolescents' sexual health include high rates of teenage pregnancy; a rising incidence of sexually transmitted diseases, high rates of abortion mortality, pornography and many more. Medical problems associated with adolescents' sexual behaviour are a major health burden to Nigerian parents. Problems are not confined to pregnancy but include secondary infertility and the development of cervical abnormalities in adolescents. Anecdotal evidence shows that early sexual activity has negative consequences for young people. This study investigates positive parenting on risky sexual behaviour among in secondary school adolescents in Ibadan North Local Government Area, Oyo state Nigeria. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. A total of three hundred and fifty (350) secondary school adolescents in Ibadan North Local Government Area, Oyo state Nigeria were selected using simple random sampling technique. Validated Questionnaire on adolescents risky sexual behaviour α =. 94 was used for data collection. Four research questions were tested using frequency distribution, Pearson Product Moment Correlation and T test at 0.05 level of significant. The findings showed that the level of risky sexual behaviour is high (X=4.23 > 0.05), the impact of parenting managing style is high (X=3.86 > 0.05), there is a significant relationship between parenting management style and adolescents risky sexual behaviour (r (348) = .424p <0.05) .There was no significant difference in risky sexual behaviour based on gender (T(348)= .352, p<.05) among secondary school adolescents in Ibadan North Local Government Area, Oyo state. It was therefore recommended that parents reposition their styles of nurturing positively so as to help their adolescent in taking preventive measures and rescue them from being victims of risky behaviours.
