This study investigated the relationship between single parenting and aggressive/depressive tendencies among secondary school students in Benue State, Nigeria. The purpose of the study was to ascertain the relationship between single parenting and aggressive/depressive tendencies among secondary school students in Benue State. The study adopted a survey design. Two research questions were formulated, and two hypotheses guided the study. A self-structured questionnaire (SPSADT), was administered to a sample size of 383 students. Data collected for the study were analysed using mean scores, the standard deviation for research questions and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMC) to test the hypotheses at 0.05 alpha levels. The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between single parenting and aggressive/depressive tendencies among secondary students. ō‚«ˇBased on the findings, recommendations were made that the Government and NGOs should reduce aggressive/depressive tendencies among students from single-parent families through the provision of scholarships and basic needs. School authorities and teachers should pay more attention to students of single parenting homes, to assist them in overcoming feelings of shame or guilt and worthlessness. School counsellors should engage single-parenting students in counselling to help them towards psychological adjustment.
