Abstract

This paper delves into the critical discourse of remodeling teacher education in Nigeria as a catalyst for national transformation. It underscores the imperative of aligning teacher education with global trends and integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the curriculum. The existing challenges within the current curriculum, including shallow subject matter knowledge, poor digital literacy, and an overloaded syllabus, are thoroughly examined. The paper advocates for comprehensive curriculum reform, emphasizing strategies such as redesigning courses, fostering innovative pedagogy, and creating a culture of lifelong learning. Moreover, it highlights the significance of fostering digital literacy among educators and the need for continuous professional development.
